No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A gruesome murder has sent shockwaves through the Baduria area of North 24 Parganas, where the dismembered remains of a missing young man were recovered from multiple canals. The victim, identified as Nasir Ali, a resident of Papila village and a local Trinamool Congress activist, had been missing for five days. The investigation has led to the arrest of the local Booth Level Officer (BLO), Rizwan Hasan Mandal, and his accomplice, Sagar Gain, uncovering a chilling tale of revenge.
Nasir Ali disappeared after being lured away from his home under the pretext of correcting "SIR" documents. According to his family, the BLO, Rizwan Hasan Mandal, had called Nasir to the Lalkuthi area with necessary papers. Nasir left on his motorcycle but never returned. When a search was initiated, his bike was found abandoned in the Jamuna River, sparking massive protests and road blockades by villagers who suspected foul play.
The police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and tracked down the BLO, who had also gone into hiding, in the Tentulia area of Swarupnagar. During a rigorous interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to the brutal crime. They revealed that Nasir was murdered and his body was cut into several pieces, packed into plastic bags, and dumped into three different canals to destroy evidence. On Friday night, divers and police teams successfully recovered the packets containing the body parts.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind the killing was a suspected extramarital relationship between Nasir Ali and the BLO’s wife. Rizwan Hasan Mandal allegedly planned the murder to eliminate Nasir from his life. Both the BLO and his aide, Sagar Gain, have been remanded to police custody after being produced in court.
